Hiring Information - Sunshine Village - Banff Ski Resort, Canada

Would you like to have the experience of a lifetime at Sunshine Village?

Working for a ski resort such as Sunshine Village is an amazing opportunity. We hire a variety of nationalities at Sunshine Village and turn them into raving fans of our resort. The majority of our positions are seasonal and run from November to May. Any permanent full-time positions are posted on our Current Vacancies section. We do not generally hire for summer positions, as the resort is closed for skiing/snowboarding.

2010/11 SEASON

For a valid application for the 2010/11 season you must be available for one of our hiring fairs or an in-person interview. Please note that we will not be conducting telephone/web interviews unless through a stated recruiting company).

OVERSEAS INTERVIEWS/FAIRS

AUSTRALIA – with IEP (International Exchange Program). To be held in August in Brisbane (4th), Sydney (6th) and Melbourne (7th). We will be participating in this show again, contact www.iep.org.au for more information & to book an interview. When these interview spots are full applicants must consider our other interview methods, as we will not be holding any additional interviews in Australia.

UK, CZECH REPUBLIC & IRELAND – with Go International. In person interviews to be held in July in London (9th & 10th) and Prague (13th). TORONTO – Hiring fair September 17 & 18

BANFF – A one day hiring fair held in mid-October in Banff. The exact date is to be determined. We will fill some specific roles & the remainder of our open seasonal roles at the fair. If you are in Banff before this time we recommend you go to our Banff office. In order to attend the fair you must book an interview spot, however we have not yet started doing this. At the hiring fair we will initially evaluate your related qualifications and suitability in a ‘pre-screen meeting’ to create 1-2 job specific interviews for you. The hiring process may take a few hours. Check back later in July for a confirmed fair date. After this time you will be able to make an appointment with us, and more details will be available.

If you are in town, please visit us at our BANFF OFFICE from – Mid-August to mid-October. A Human Resources representative will be available for information and resume collections. Look on our website later in the summer for times, days & directions/location.

Phone Interviews

SKI SCHOOL APPLICATIONS:

Sunshine Village Ski and Snowboard School is currently looking for qualified, enthusiastic and highly motivated Ski and Snowboard Instructors for the 2010/2011 season. Please send a resume and cover letter to our Program Director at colleen.collison@skibanff.com . In order to instruct at Sunshine Village you must have your CASI or CSIA Level 1 as a minimum or International equivalent, and a valid visa to work in Canada, we will not sponsor first year Instructors. Sunshine does not hire Instructors through our out of town Fairs.

If you are offered a job at Sunshine, you will need to provide us with the following:
- Social Insurance Number
- Criminal Records Check (if Canadian)
- Work Visa and passport
- Proof of Provincial Health Care or Travel Insurance
- Direct Deposit Information for a CANADIAN bank account (mandatory)

Keys to success for your interview:

Cover letter and resume - Providing us with an updated version of your cover letter and resume will make it easier for our team to set you up with the most appropriate interviews.
Written reference letters - Because we complete reference checks for all successful applicants, it is to your advantage to provide us with written recommendations from previous employers. Otherwise we require a phone number or email address.
Proof of Visa - Please bring with you a photocopy of your work visa to your interview.
Dress to impress - If you make a good impression and look the part, you will increase your chances of securing a position for the season.
